Sweet Baby Helen!

Mommy has been in bed sick for a yong time.  She had pneumonia so I got to play with Grammy and Daddy a yot.  I bet everyone was sad there were no new pictures of me!

I got so many neat toys for my birthday.  I play all day long. 

Today mommy put me in my pretty new dress I got for my birthday from Aunt Nina and Aunt Yaura.  I feel so fancy.

And sort of yady-yike.

I mean to tell you, I’ve got pretty blue eyes.  What?  It’s true.

Seriously.

Mommy put me in the chair to take my picture but I just kept wigging and giggling.  That’s how I roll.

Here I am right before my party.  I sat in my duck waiting for my guests to arrive.  Uncle John brought me some pretty bayoons.  He tied one to my duck.  I yike ducks.  A yot of people came.

Grammy and Granddaddy were there.

Mar and Poppa came too.

They all brought me a yot of nice presents.

Here is one of my birthday cakes.  I had three.  This one has a teddy bear in the tub with duckies.  Those are some of my favorite things. 

This one has my monogram.  I love monograms.  I can’t seep unless my sheets have my monogram.

This one was just for me and no one else. 

Before we had any birthday cake I had to open all my presents.  I got so many!  See how my overalls say “helen” on them?  That’s my name.

It’s really deyicious.

Mommy and Daddy were proud of me eating my cake.

I just had a great day!  It’s great to be one!

See that yady with the giant belly?  That’s Mommy, and that’s me in there making her belly so big.

I’m about to be born and Mommy is so excited to meet me.

Here is one of my first pictures.  I’m just minutes old and we’re all still in the operating room where I was born.  Daddy was so proud to hold me but I felt mad about the lights and the cold.

Daddy was so happy.  I can’t blame him. 

I weighed over 8 pounds!  What a big girl I was, even then.

The yadies at the hospital kept bothering me that whole day.  They must have never met such a sweet baby because they all wanted to hold me all the time.

Here is our first picture as a family.  Yook who is the sweetest one in the picture.  It’s ME.

What a great wonderful and happy day that was!

I’m always a good sleeper, but tonight I think I’m going to really have sweet dreams.

Know why?

Just yook at my new sheet that Aunt Nina made for me.  She thinks I’m a princess.

Know why? Because I was there and I’m his favorite girl in the world. He really loves me.

Here I am with Poppa. He’s lots of fun. It was Father’s Day for him too because he’s my Daddy’s Daddy.

Here we are all together. We sure had a big time.

Now that I’ve outgrown my baby tub, Mommy bathes me in the sink.

Sometimes it annoys me that she takes my picture all the time.

She never stops.

That is all.

We had our last Kindermusik class yesterday.  We got to bring guests.  Daddy and Grammy and Granddaddy and Ginny Roo came.  Mar had to miss because she hurt her eye.  We all had a big time.

On Sunday, we went to church and Mommy changed me into a long white dress.  We got to sit up front.  I made a lot of loud sounds and squealed a little because I liked the way my voice sounded in that big church.  When the priest gave his sermon, he said I was not your typical Episcopalian.  And then he used a word I didn’t know.  Glossolaliac.  Mommy and Daddy and everyone in church laughed hard at that one.

Then later the priest poured some water on my head and another priest put some oil on my forehead and someone said a prayer.

Heavenly Father, we thank you that by water and the Holy
Spirit you have bestowed upon her your servant the
forgiveness of sin, and have raised her to the new life of
grace. Sustain her, O Lord, in your Holy Spirit. Give her
an inquiring and discerning heart, the courage to will and to
persevere, a spirit to know and to love you, and the gift of joy
and wonder in all your works. Amen.

Isn’t that a pretty prayer?

After that, Bonnie took me down the aisle and I got to say Peace to everyone.  Everyone in the church was very happy about my Baptism and they were happy to see me and share the Peace with me.

Here I am with Mommy and Daddy after church.  I didn’t feel like smiling because I was worn out.  But I still look sweet in my outfit.

Here I am with Mommy and Daddy and Annie and Nina.  They were my godmothers.  I was sorry my Uncle Andy couldn’t come but I sure am glad he’s my godfather.  Our whole church prayed for Uncle Andy’s Daddy because he is sick.

Here I am laughing hard with Ginny Roo.  She was so happy about my Baptism.

Mar and Poppa came.  I liked eating Mar’s necklace.

Grammy and Granddaddy were there too.

Auntie Bec and Uncle Jim came but they had to leave before Communion because Uncle Jim didn’t feel good and Auntie Bec had to take Diamond Lil out or Mothers’ Day yunch.  My cousins were there too and that made me glad.  I sure love my boys.

After church we all went to Grammy’s and had yunch together and I crawled around.  It was a big day!
